Why I Preach Repentance!

Those of you who know me, know that I preach that if you have not humbled yourself and truly repented through a sorrowful heart, you are NOT saved!  This what the Bible says, what JESUS preached, not my opinion.

2 Cor 7:9-11
Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
NKJV

Why I Preach Repentance—-by Lara Love

“And [Jesus] said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:46-47 [Jesus] added to clarify

I have met few people as desperate as I was for decades to feel loved, accepted, approved of, validated, and affirmed by this world. The last thing in the world that elicits the world’s love and acceptance is preaching to the world near and far, to loved ones and strangers alike, that the only way to a relationship with God now and forever in heaven instead of eternity in hell and the lake of fire is to repent of our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and devote oneself to God and His ways according to the Bible, aspiring to love and glorify Him forever.
Preaching repentance comes with hatred, rejection, and persecution from loved ones and strangers alike. Why then do I preach repentance? Countless churches all across America have packed pews wherever pastors preach prosperity and how Jesus loves us and how we can live happily ever on earth if we twist scriptures around or forget about the Bible altogether and simply wave our magic wands at heaven, never mind about sin and wickedness and how we must turn away from it in repentance and learn to live according to the ways of the Lord.
I have never been more hated, rejected, and unpopular because my life’s mission is to help people to become and remain forever followers of the Lord Jesus Christ beginning with preaching repentance. Why do I preach repentance?
Because God’s number one command is to love Him with all my heart and to love others (Mt. 32:37-39). I preach repentance because I love Him and choose to obey Him and because I love you. Because the Bible says repentance needs to be preached to all nations. Because I now live for Christ and no longer for myself. Because I am willing to forsake the love and approval of this world because I love God more than anything or anyone on this earth. Because I would rather know you heard the Gospel message about how to have a breathtaking forever relationship with God instead of going to hell even if it means you will hate and reject me than know you went to hell because I wanted your love and approval more than I wanted to see you live to love and glorify God and see you in heaven.
There is nothing and nobody in the world that comes close to the LOVE and JOY of knowing, loving, and being with God forever! Because He is holy and we are sinners, the only way we can have a relationship with Him and be in His presence now and forever is by repenting, believing in who Jesus is, what He did, says, and will do, and following Him.

The Gift of Repentance is about a Lifestyle.

This is a great article by Stephen Powell posted on Elijah List. It is totally accurate and depicts what we are to do and how we are to live if we are truly of JESUS. Remember the Bible says:

 2 Cor 7:9-11
9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11

“The Gift of Repentance is a Lifestyle”– By Stephen Powell

Matt. 3:2, “…Repent ye: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

Matt. 4:17, “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

It is a message and a revelation that ushered the ancient barbaric world into the light of Christ’s new day, and it is still the power that God is using today to translate people from darkness to light, enabling them to walk in the light of Christ in this day. It is the power and the gift of repentance. It’s the Greek word metanoeo and it means to change one’s mind. Many seek miracles for what they could have by simply repenting. There are things that are outside our reach as mere mortal men. Those are the areas God moves in when it comes to the miraculous.

Yet there are areas that are completely within our reach as men, which are ordered within our domain. Those areas are grasped and conquered by repentance, by changing the way a man thinks so he can conquer himself. From this place he conquers his world, as has been given to him by divine destiny. When a man reaches this achievement, he is ready for some of the greatest miracles man has seen. He has overcome this world just as Christ overcame.

Repentance is About a Lifestyle

Deut. 29:29, “The secret [things belong] unto the Lord our God: but those [things which are] revealed [belong] unto us and to our children forever, that [we] may do all the words of this law.”

What is revealed, is given for our empowerment SO THAT WE MIGHT DO. But repentance is required in order for the working knowledge that has been revealed to benefit the individual. When a person begins to repent they begin to change their mind. And therein lies the real issue. Repentance is something that must stick. It’s not good enough for someone to step into the light of revelation, only to fall back into the darkness from where they’ve come, repeating the same lifestyle that brought them pain and misery.

Repentance is about a lifestyle that is adopted of seeing the light, and choosing every day to live in the light by applying what one has learned. You can’t apply what you’ve learned unless you change in “the new mind” that God has given you as a gift. True repentance involves spirit, soul, and body. It is a great gift that God has given us for being transformed into the image of Christ.

We were made like God, with a governing mind and will. The only limits are our imagination and our ability to keep in repentance of old ways, and stay in accordance with the new. The Day of the Lord has ever-increasing light for the Believer. But we must receive and walk in this light in order to keep receiving and going higher into the new-creation reality!

Repentance is a Seed of Transformation

Repentance is one of the largest tests that God will put His children through to train them for reigning with Him. Will a child repent to think like God thinks and stick with the seed of that change until it matures to the point of transformation?

Lk. 8:11-15, “Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God. Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among the thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

We’ve all heard this parable many times, but I would like to present it to you in light of the subject of repentance. Yes, we always make the point that the condition of the heart is what matters, as we should. That is clearly stated by our Lord. But in every passage, in every parable, there are hidden gems for those who have “eyes to see”. Look at the application of repentance. Repentance actually revealed the condition of the heart. Without repentance one cannot receive the word and be saved. Being saved requires a “change of mind”.

You have to accept what Jesus has done for you and come into alignment with this truth in order for it to begin to benefit you. But the process revealed in this parable doesn’t stop there. No, it’s not enough to believe once, receive your salvation, and then go on your way. But FOCUS is required for one to have the “roots” to endure the time of temptation and their own personal falling away. Focus brought forth the longevity of the harvest, which is revealed in the word “patience”. Patience requires focus, focus on the prize, like Paul described, running with patience and endurance in order that one might receive the prize (1 Cor. 9:24).

Yes, ultimately it is the grace of God that keeps us. I am not arguing or diminishing that in anyway. Here I am speaking about the grace that God gives to repent and stay in repentance, so that one might change their life forever. We call that transformation. Many have shared this phrase, “I don’t want just a visitation. I want a habitation!” Well this is a big key!

Staying in Repentance Requires Roots

When did David fall away during his time of temptation? It was when he was DISTRACTED on the rooftop, not focused on his mandate as the warrior king that God had made him. The Bible makes it very clear that it was “the time when kings went to war” that he fell (2 Sam. 11:1).

Staying with God in times and seasons require a lifestyle of repentance, a lifestyle of aligning our thinking with His, so we can flow with Him at all times and in all seasons. David failed to do this and temporarily fell away from the Lord. Now eventually he did come back into alignment with God, thinking and believing God’s way, which happened when he acknowledged his sin with Bathsheba and began to go through the process of turning it around and getting back on track as the king he was called to be.

But repentance required just what Jesus spoke about: ROOTS. The roots is the focus and discipline that keeps us planted in the mind and will of God no matter what storms, temptations, and battling thoughts come our way. The warfare is in the mind. From this place stems all intellectual and desire-based schemes of the enemy. If you can conquer this battlefield with the Holy Spirit, then you will effectively win the war with Christ from the foundation of the world before it ever starts.

You will transcend this present place of struggle into a realm where the enemy has not the weapons to contend with you – the mind of Christ. In the mind of Christ is the perfect ordering and execution of the divine will through human flesh and carnal existence. In this place, nothing can stop a man from being conformed to the image of Christ and taking his dominion in this world. He becomes untouchable. Ask yourself, what are you doing with the gift of repentance?

Blessings,

Stephen Powell

Integrity-where art thou?

Blessings in the name of YESHUA!

Integrity:

1. The quality of being honest and  having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. 2. Adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, soundness of moral character and honesty.

These are qualities that many in our society advocate and even say that they champion but when you look at the fruit of their lives integrity is cast to the side. Integrity is only practiced in their lives when it is convenient or will not cost them anything that they value in their lives. In our society we are expected to deal honestly and in good faith with those we come in contact with. Some try to extend this to all, others just to their friends, others just to their relatives and others only to those who have the power to harm or force them to. There are many sayings out there: ‘My word is my bond, If I say it you can believe it, do you think I would lie to you’, on and on it goes. Some actually look you in the face, lie to you knowing it is a lie and expect you to believe it, actually offended if you do not.

Politicians are well known for saying one thing to get elected and doing another after election. We have witnessed many events in the past several years in particular which denote statements and speeches made to get elected to office and once in office they will do the opposite of what they have promised. Many times the rule of law is ignored or intentionally misinterpreted to achieve a desired effect by the powers that be. The Constitution is being ignored as activist politicians and judges rule for agenda and social engineering not justice or the rule of law. That indicates no integrity politically and if you do not have integrity as a politician then you do not have integrity as a individual. One’s level of integrity starts at the personal level and permeates everything we touch.

Integrity is not something that just happens or that we are born with or inherit. Integrity is a character trait that to attain we must first make a commitment. There must be an honest resolve that we would have the utmost desire to be honest in our words and actions not to reach a goal by any means necessary whether ‘by hook or by crook.’ This would include not only being truthful in the things that we do and say but in any situation even to the point of exposing indirect or hidden lies or dishonesty by correcting things we know to be lies or half-truths of others.

The Bible is the inerrant, irrevocable WORD of YHWH. It is the only true reference for those who would call YESHUA as LORD. The BIBLE is sometimes said to be Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth! JESUS instructs us that we are called to be HIS disciples and if we are HIS disciples that we are to strive to be as JESUS was and is. JESUS is the epitome of integrity, HE was, is and forever will be the WORD of YHWH, the ultimate only true form of integrity. No one ever nor ever will have rock solid integrity except through JESUS on this earth. We are to strive to be like JESUS in our daily walk, that is what sets us apart from the world. That is how our light shines brightly in this dark world.

Now as none of us is perfect, none of us has not failed nor sinned and none of us has performed in perfect integrity it is time that we all would allow the HOLY SPIRIT to show us where we have failed. It is time to set agenda aside, seek the LORD in all manner, stand in righteousness, spiritually striking down the wicked, holding those who would force wickedness upon this nation and its people.

It is time to confront those in power and declare no longer. It is time to stand against compromise of the WORD of JESUS and throw the false shepherds out and the false prophets down. If what is promoted does not line up with the WORD, it is not of GOD.

Jer 2:4-11

4 Hear the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel. 5 Thus says the Lord:

“What injustice have your fathers found in Me,That they have gone far from Me,Have followed idols,And have become idolaters? 6 Neither did they say, ‘Where is the Lord,Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,Who led us through the wilderness,Through a land of deserts and pits,Through a land of drought and the shadow of death,Through a land that no one crossedAnd where no one dwelt?’ 7 I brought you into a bountiful country,To eat its fruit and its goodness. But when you entered, you defiled My landAnd made My heritage an abomination. 8 The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’And those who handle the law did not know Me;The rulers also transgressed against Me;The prophets prophesied by Baal,And walked after things that do not profit.

9 “Therefore I will yet bring charges against you,” says the Lord,”And against your children’s children I will bring charges. 10 For pass beyond the coasts of Cyprus and see,Send to Kedar and consider diligently,And see if there has been such a thing. 11 Has a nation changed its gods,Which are not gods? But My people have changed their GloryFor what does not profit.
